Favorite Autumn Lip Colors

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Temperatures are getting chillier, leaves are changing colors, pumpkin flavored everything is now in season.. Fall is upon us! I personally am more of a summer time kind of girl, but all the pretty shades of fall is mesmerizing!

Fall also means trading in bright pop of colors to more warm, darker shades when it comes to makeup. I have gone through my stash and gathered my favorite fall time shades.

Velvet Teddy by MAC- Nude shades are always a must for me, no matter what time of the year it is! This color paired with MAC's Spice lip liner gives you that "Kylie Jenner lip".

Cappuccino by City Colors- I received this lipstick in my September Glam Bag, and as soon as I swatched it, I immediately thought that it would be a great color for fall.

Divine Wine by L'Oreal- This color picked up a bit lighter on camera. In person it is a beautiful wine color that actually pulls more brown than red.

Devil's Food Cake by NYX-  Ah, I love NYX butter glosses. This color looks very intimidating in the tube, but isn't actually so dark once applied. I only made one pass on my lips in the swatch below, but you can definitely intensify the color.

Berry Haute by Revlon- I feel like this shade will translate differently on everyone, but still such a pretty berry/violet/pink lip color. Also a dupe for MAC's Up The Amp!

Diva by MAC- A MAC fall staple. Beautiful deep red/plum color. Again, this was hard to get to show up true to color on camera. (I need to invest in lighting! lol)

Plum Adiago by L'Oreal- Love how hydrating the Extrodinaire Color Riche Liquid Lipstick line is! This is a great vampy color.

Black Dahlia by OCC-  This shade is a blackened red, and it is very intimidating in the tube! I love it's staying power. It looks light in the picture but trust me, it is way darker in person.
Transylvania by NYX- Perfect deep dark vamp burgundy. I admit, this color is kinda "high maintenance" - you should exfoliate before applying, as it tends to apply unevenly, and with dry lips it would look terrible. This color works better when applied with a lipliner or on top of another shade. Despite its flaws, I still really do love this color.

Let me know what your fall favorites are below! Are there any colors that you would like to try, or that coincide with the ones I listed?

Christian Louboutin Nail Lacquer in Very Prive

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Ah, Christian Louboutin. I dream of the day in which I have extra cash lying around so I can walk into his Madison Ave store to buy myself a pair of red bottoms. One day...

For now, I am content with having one of the multiple nail polish shades that were released this year - thanks to my better half, he gave it to me on our anniversary :)

Christian Louboutin - The Noirs in Very Prive
The colors are broken into three families - The Nudes, the Noirs, and the Pops. The shade that I have is called Very Prive, and is part of the Noirs color collection. Very Prive is described as a deep red wine shade. The color was pretty opaque on the first pass, which is always a great thing, but decided on applying two coats. The formula is pretty thick, but not at all hard to work with. According to what I have read, it is purposely formulated that way so that it can give the effect of having 20 layers of "regular" nail polish! It is also meant to be chip resistant. I will definitely put the polish up to the test! I will update this post in a bout a week to see how well it has held up. I just couldn't resist not painting my nails with it.

Not my best manicure LOL but I love the color
Do you own any of the Louboutin nail polishes? Do you think it's worth the hefty price tag? It is a lot of money, especially for nail lacquer -but the nail polish bottle itself is very unique.

October 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag

Thursday, October 16, 2014

I received a pleasant surprise when I got home this afternoon - my October Ipsy Glam Bag! I honestly forgot all about it, and seeing that little pink package waiting for me made my day even better.

How gorgeous is this month's bag?! I'm loving everything about it!
The goods!
Below is the card that was included. They all look so gorgeous, as usual.

Ok, let's jump into the goods. First up is the Figs & Rouge Mango Mandarin hand cream. According to the label, it is pure and natural. I tried some on the back of my hand, and left it super soft, and it smelled yummy as well.

I received City Color Be Matte Lipstick in the color Cappuccino. The shade is very fall like - which I love!

Next up is the VolumEyes Mascara by Model Co. By the look of the brush, it should definitely give my lashes major volume!

I'm a huge highlight whore, and I was happy to see that I received one this month! It's the H2Glo Highlighter in Champagne by Doll 10 Beauty. It is a creamy consistency, and gives a subtle glow, which can be intensified if desired. The swatch I did on my arm was definitely intensified, just so I can show the color off.

Last item is the Glacial Cleansing Cloths by Skyn Iceland. It is meant to rejuvenate stressed skin as it cleans.

Overall, I am content with this month's items (this is only my second one!). If you receive a monthly Ipsy bag, what did you get? I know that not everyone gets the same things, so I am curious to know what you got!

Target Skincare Haul

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Hi beauties!

I go to Target to get two things, and end up with six. What is it about Target?! Sigh. I just wanted to buy more makeup removing wipes and liquid eye makeup remover. I only bought skin care items, hence the title. Just wanted to share what I purchased.

What I use to remove my makeup is nothing fancy - Target brand makeup remover wipes and their eye makeup remover liquid works perfectly fine. It is comparable to Ponds and Neutrogena, and being that I have used both before, I'd say it really is pretty much the same thing.
I don't suffer from acne, but I do break out from time to time. I bought the Neutrogena On the Spot Acne treatment to avoid having blemishes on my face for longer than it needs to be. Ive never tried this before, I'm hoping that this product works!
I was in need of a new face wash (I was using Cetaphil), and wanted to try something new. I have the travel sized Clean & Clear Morning Burst face wash that "wakes you up" (the orange one) and I really do like it. They have different variations of face washes and chose to get their Morning Burst Detoxifying facial cleanser.
I always use Witch Hazel as a toner after I wash my face (if you don't know what that is, please Google it! It has many benefits). Again, I wanted to switch it up and try the Target brand Deep Clean Facial Toner.
Last but not least, I saw this Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream, and thought this would be good as a day cream. For my next purchase I would like to try a good anti- aging cream, if you have any suggestions, please comment down below!
I am thinking of doing a skincare routine soon, which would include what I do from start to finish and also what facial masks/scrubs I like to use. Keep an eye out for that! Have any of you tried any of the products above? Any recommendations that you may have?

I'm Going to IMATS LA 2015!

Friday, October 10, 2014

Just wanted to announce that this New Yorker will be flying out to the west coast to attend IMATS LA 2015! I will be attending on January 18th, since the 17th was already sold out! I'm pretty sure I'll be doing some serious damage, so I will start saving money starting today.

I am looking forward to LA! I was there earlier in the year and although I was only there for a few days to attend Generation Beauty, I loved it. Its definitely a different ambiance than New York City.

I am hoping to network big time, shop tons, and just enjoy LA! Who else is going? I would love to meet up with you!

Smith's Rosebud Salve in a Tube Review

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Hate chapped lips? Who doesn't?!

I have seen rave reviews of Rosebud Salve in the tin form on the Sephora website, but always hesitated to purchase it, because the idea of having to dip my finger into the product and then rub it all over my lips while out in the world without washing my hands was just gross. Smith's Rosebud is actually a multipurpose product - could be used for your cuticles, dry skin, irritations and even diaper rashes!

Recently while I was in Sephora, I saw that it now came in a tube form - I couldn't walk away from it! Although it can be used for different things, I just wanted something moisturizing for my lips.

Don't mind the faded silver lines on packaging - faded due to everyday use.
As I applied it to my lips, I immediately noticed the very rosy smell. For me personally it's a wee bit too strong, and not exactly my cup of tea (smells kinda old ladyish to me) but it isn't anything unbearable, and after a few moments it goes away. The product has a slight pinkish color to it, but won't change the color of your lips. It is not sticky at all, and leaves your lips glossy. Very little goes a long way!

A little goes a long way!
As far as hydration, it does the job. My lips immediately felt very soft and very moisturized. However, after a few hours, I found myself reaching for the tube again to apply some more. It was very disappointing to me! Don't get me wrong, it does do the job every time I apply it, I just wish the effects lasted longer. It didn't live up to the hype for me.

I will continue to use it daily as I usually do until I finish the tube, but would I repurchase? Probably not. I am still in search of that miracle lip product. Any of you out there have a holy grail lip product(s)? Please let me know!

Where Have I Been?!

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

I'm still alive! Hard to believe, with the way I have been updating my blog and whatnot LOL.

So what has been going on? Why have I not updated? Life got in the way, and honestly, I put the blog to the side for a bit. But I'm back, and I promise I will have some more content in the weeks to come!

What has been going on? Here is a little insight into my world. Well for starters I finally had my room painted, so for a few days I had a huge mess, and its still not organized the way I would like it to be, but it's getting there. The color I chose is called Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore. I'm hoping to rearrange my room, and also add to my vanity area and really make it a nice and cozy corner. When that time comes I will be sure to share it with you all!

As you may or may not know, I am a mom, and my son turned 8! Time really passes by a little too fast, and I can't believe he is growing up quickly right before my eyes. He is now in the 3rd grade and is adjusting to it pretty well so far.

My son's birthday cake! Obsessed with TMNT

Our birthdays are exactly a week apart, and I turned yet another year older (waaah!). Thanks to my amazing boyfriend, I received a MacBook Pro for my birthday - which will make blogging WAY easier for me, hence more content. Since its my last year in my 20's I decided to glam it up, and was able to get the talented @sexxysauce to do my makeup.

Thank goodness for clip ons! Hello side boob lol

Just thought I would give you guys a quick update - keep an eye out for a new blog post within the next few days. Thanks for understanding!
